Correos resumes the acceptance of all types of shipments to the United States

• Correos is one of the first international postal operators to resume shipping service to the United States under its new customs regulations • Effective October 3, Correos will accept all shipments, including parcels with a commercial value equal to or less than 800 US dollars, which had been suspended due to the tariff changes approved by the United States • This measure affects shipments from both business customers (with contract) and from individuals. Business customers, will need to sign an addendum with Correos for shipments to the United States • Correos resumes the service after having intensively worked to adapt its technological and operational systems. Thus low-value packages can be processed in compliance with the new customs obligations imposed by the United States, which require the payment of duties at origin and has increased the data requirement for each shipment

Madrid, 2nd October 2025.- Correos announces the reopening of the admission of all types of shipments to the United States, with an effective date of tomorrow, Friday, October 3.

This ends the temporary suspension that had been affecting packages with a commercial value equal to or less than 800 dollars since August 25. The decision was taken following the change in U.S. customs rules eliminating the tariff pay-ment exemption of the low-value incoming shipments.

Correos has worked intensively to adapt its technological and operational systems to the new situation that requires all shipments sent to the United States to pay tariffs. The due amount to pay varies depending on the country of origin of the shipments and the value of the product. This measure had a significant impact on international postal logistics and e-commerce flows.

The new regulations affect aspects such as the collection of duties at origin, the collection and declaration of new data for each shipment; as well as the interaction with the different cross-border organizations involved in the implementation of the new mechanism for the clearance of shipments into the United States.

Correos has set up a new system for collecting and exchanging the necessary data, both for shipments from business customers (with a contract) and private individuals, to ensure proper handling of shipments sent to the United States and to safeguard customers’ interests.

In the case of business customers with a contract, it will be essential for them to contact their reference sales representative in order to sign an addendum that includes the new conditions arising from the adaptation to regulatory changes.

Correos thus becomes one of the first postal operators worldwide to successfully adapt its operations and to resume the flow of shipments to the United States in compliance with its new customs regulations, once again making the service available to all customers, both businesses and individuals.
